Need a gift for Valentine’s Day?
Paris Flea Market is only open 4 days a month and opens this weekend from Thursday, February 2nd through Monday, February 6th. Paris Flea Market is a “flea market” in the sense that there are many sellers, but the items are more creative and upcycled than straight from grandma’s attic. A lot of the items have that singular French style which is rustic and sophisticated at the same time.
Here you can find vintage typewriters, wine glasses, sassy wooden signs, and a variety of charming gifts and trinkets. Paris Flea Market is a great place to find a unique piece of jewelry or hand-made card to give to your significant other on Valentine’s Day.
Paris Flea Market gathers in an unassuming industrial park off of Vasco Road (535 Leisure St, Livermore, CA 94551), but don’t let the drab exterior fool you – it is quite spacious and homey on the inside. There are two floors full of treasures and trinkets to search through – a bottom level and a white staircase strewn with Christmas lights leading to the second story. The upstairs contains mostly clothes, and the downstairs houses furniture and home decorations.
The furniture is gorgeous and often hand-distressed or chalk-painted. The upper level is like a vintage clothing boutique where you can find anything from 20s beaded flapper gowns to 50s shirtwaist dresses.
Wanted to learn how to chalk-paint yourself? Well then try your hand at one of their classes offered by Lonaé Swickard. Her next class is called “Chair Affair” on Feb. 15th 6-9pm for $65.00. You bring your own chair and Lonaé teaches you how to create a beautiful work of art.
The best stuff gets scooped up quickly, so if you want that heirloom silver necklace or camel-back couch it’s a good idea to get there when the market opens at five o’clock on Thursday. Saturday and Sunday will see smaller crowds, though, which will be good for those who want a more leisurely shopping experience.
Paris Flea Market also has snacks and coffee for customers to munch on while they browse the store and a great group of ladies sporting pink feathers in their hair always looking to help! For operating hours and more information, check out Paris Flea Market’s website!
