So you move into a new home and you promise the kids a puppy. I’ve seen a lot of homes with pets and I’d like to share my Lessons Learned with you to help save you costly repairs later that you might not even notice are occurring. I love my four legged friend and believe me she’s not going anywhere, but I love my home too.
Damage Pets Do To Your Home
Air conditioners may be out of site out of mind to you, but to your male dogs they’re giant fire hydrants. They love to mark their territory here and I can’t tell you how many I’ve seen damaged this way. Though it might sound simple, building yourself a little wooden fence around it should do the trick.
I know, I know, lawn you say, for those of you still sporting that green stuff in the backyard, here’s one that we used with our dog that liked to dig. Bury their dog poop in the holes that they dig. They should stop completely. I know it sounds a little strange, but it really worked on our dog. You can once again enjoy your beautiful lawn.
Then there’s some animals you just don’t want as pets. So if you’re not a cat person, be sure to keep your trees cut back away far enough from the house. Yes, mice and rats can jump! They’re extremely agile and follow the branches of a tree right onto your roof and into your attic. Another form of entry for them is the air conditioning tubes. Keep these sealed up good with some black duct tape.
Maintaining your home might seem time consuming, but a little attention now could save you money down the road. Need help with those repairs? Please feel free to contact me directly for a list of Service Providers. I’m happy to help and if you know anyone looking to buy or sell, please think of me.
