Well today is National Wine Day!
Usually I do not care much about “National ___ Day” but today is different. I love wine. It can make or break a dinner meal. I decided a while back that I was going to not drink during the week since an average class of wine contains 100 calories, but when you have more than one glass it adds up. Because who can only have 1 glass of wine?!
A wonderful thing about being in Livermore, is all the wineries that we have right in our own backyards. Everything from the big names like Wente Vineyards, to Concannon Vineyards to the small names like Tesla Vintners (The Singing Wine Maker,) and BoaVentura de Caires Winery. Each has their staple wines. We all know about Riva Ranch, and Concannon’s chardonnay is a great table wine. But what about Tesla Vintners? Have you tried their Sparklings? Sparkling Almond is one of my favorites. It’s perfect by itself, or add a little orange juice to make a great mimosa. Have you tried their port in a chocolate cup? It’s like a dessert that explodes in your mouth. I know they charge for the cup, but it is totally worth it if you ask me. BoaVentura only has their tasting room open 2 days a week, sometimes 3. If you’re driving down Tesla Road and you blink, you will probably miss their dirt road driveway. What I like most about this place is the ranch style feel it gives off. The wines are great, the barn is perfect, and for the camera ready person in your family it is a perfect setting for a family portrait.
I don’t know about you, but you will find me this afternoon with a glass in hand, enjoying the weather, even with this wind, the sound of my kids banging on things and screaming, and playing in the backyard.
